Where did it originate?

  • HINOHIKARI ヒノヒカリ rice is well known for its rich taste, despite the grain small. It has a thick and chewy texture. It was originated in Kyushu, Japan which they eat it on a daily basis and it is popular in restaurants. HINO means “salute”, alluding to the region of Kyushu in ancient times, and HIKARI means “sun”. Hinohikari rice is a hybrid of Koshihikari and Koganabare rice. Since 1989 the amount of land being used for Hinohikari rice cultivation has steadily increased being the third largest after Koshihikari and Hitomebore rice.

How to cook HINOHIKARI?

  • When cooking, you need to add a little more water compared to other types of rice. For 1 rice cooker cup (180 ml), you will need 200 ml of water.
